How to Select an Insurer

Selecting the right AD&D insurance policy should be done with care. For one thing, this type of insurance is believed to be mediocre if compared to a life insurance. When looking for an AD&D insurance company, select the one that is willing to payout biggest benefits with the lowest premiums.
But don't forget to read the fine print though. Seek out the companies that don't put too much terms and conditions in the policy that greatly affects its purpose. This is applicable to the people who would like to be insured regardless of what kind of job they are engaged in.

Benefits of AD&D

For a very minimal amount the insured can collect huge sums as a compensation for death or loss of a body part. Losing a body part is not covered by a regular life insurance policy. Simply stated, accidental death and dismemberment insurance benefits are given to the insured when the unexpected happens. No one knows when an accident would strike. And with an AD&D insurance protecting you, you need not worry about losing your limbs or eyes. You will still be able to live life well in spite of their loss.

But because AD&D requires very low monthly premiums, a lot of limitations are integrated into it. Suicide attempts or hurting one's self in purpose is not eligible for a claim. And if an insured lose a limb due to war, AD&D won't pay out either. Accidental death & dismemberment benefits are applicable only if and only if the dismemberment or death happened as a direct result of an accident and that it occurred within the specified time frame of usually three months, as stated in the policy. So if the insured met an accident and lost his eyesight four months after, AD&D won't pay out.

Consequently, AD&D won't give benefits if the insured died or lost a body part due to any mental or physical illness. It also goes true if they die during surgery. Life insurance policy may cover that, but AD&D won't. Having a heart attack while driving, causing the vehicle to crash, is also not eligible for AD&D compensation.

AD&D insurance is a good insurance coverage when it is taken on its face value. The accidental death and dismemberment insurance benefits given out to eligible claimants are definitely going to help a lot in rebuilding the life of the insured or his survivors after a serious accident. For just a few dollars, you are insured that life will go on despite having to lose a limb or two and that your survivors are compensated well if and when you have to go suddenly.
